Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (Qld) Inc v Klein [2026] HCADisp 99 B7/2026

April 10, 2026

On 9 April 2026, the High Court of Australia refused the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (Qld) Inc application for special leave to appeal from the whole judgment of the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia (Stewart, Meagher and Longbottom JJ).

The Full Court of Australia allowed an appeal from a judgment of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) which dismissed Mr Klein’s discrimination claim under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).

The proposed appeal to the High Court was found to have insufficient prospects of success to justify the grant of special leave to appeal and was refused with costs.
Maria Wallis of 6 St James Hall Chambers, led by Dilan Mahenda of Quay Chambers, instructed by Patrick Turner and Lachlan McGregor of Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, represented Mr Klein.
The Judgment can be found here.
